It's a thought, though I'm not sure how intermodal the SFO/Caltrain connection is since I've never used it. (I've used the BART extension to get into the city, but I've never headed south from SFO by land.)

I think you take BART one stop from the airport to the Millbrae Caltrain station, then Caltrain south to San Jose.
